Definition and influences

The Steampunk style is characterized by clothes and accessories linked on the one hand to Victorian fashion, on the other to a mechanical universe.

Imagine an alternate world World War I, where electricity would not have appeared. Here is the steampunk universe, where the technology based on the steam engine predominates as well as others which would have developed: magic, alchemy ... Moreover, in the Middle Ages, wasn't an unknown technology qualified as magic or witchcraft?

A few examples of steampunk style jewels

The gear is therefore predominant and, to a lesser extent, the piston or the cable. Top hats, round or locomotive driver's glasses, and pocket watches are key markers.
The main metal color in the Steampunk style is bronze, even if silver, gold, copper and gunmetal can be found.

In a way, Steampunk can be similar to Gothic as these two styles of externally assumed counter-culture often share a common base, the distinction being made by the many accessories.
To sum it up very briefly, if the Steampunk would be a technician-engineer at the end of the 19th century - the beginning of the 20th century, the Gothic would be an aristocrat-vampire out of time.
