Who hasn't heard of the bohemian, boho or boho-chic style?
But can you say what it consists of?
Originally, bohemian comes from the ancient kingdom of Bohemia (roughly the Czech Republic) through which often passed those who have been called Bohemians, therefore gypsies or current Romani.
Their jewels were mainly made up of pieces in worked silver (chiseled, engraved, etc.), with inlays or pearls, turquoise or white for example. A rather oriental style after all.

Then, the word bohemian characterized a way of life made of of bits and pieces of this and that (see La Bohème, a song by Charles Aznavour) to be associated afterwards with the hippie counter-culture, with clothing, jewels and accessories from recycling, or Native American or Asian (mainly India) inspiration.
Today, the original spirit and its hippie deviation have been lost in a fashion style that has forgotten its fundamentals and is sooooo expensive ...
And the antinomies "boho chic" or the French "bourgeois bohème" shock no one.
